Routes into higher education (HE)

There are many routes into higher education, any of which will lead to an undergraduate degree. There are a huge number of subjects to study – both work-based and academic - and there are many different course types as well as different methods of studying: full-time, part-time, work-based, vocational and distance learning.

So much choice means you are sure to find a course just right for you no matter what your educational background, age or personal circumstances.

Below you will find more information to help you map out your personal path into higher education.

Planning your route

  • Use this Progression Planner to help you, as an adult student,  find a qualification to suit your needs at a college or university in the South West.
You have two ways into the new Progression Planner:
  • You can indicate your current highest level of qualifications and see what qualifications you could do next.
  • You can answer questions about what you want and need from a qualification and get matched to the ones that meet your needs.
