In an article published yesterday in The Guardian, Janet Murray considers the advantages of continuing education at local further education colleges instead of going to university.
Colleges offer options including A Levels and Apprenticeships but you may be surprised to learn that one in eight students now choose to complete their university-level education at college.
Many colleges, including Swindon College, work in partnership with universities and while the programme is delivered at college, the qualification and crucially the qualification and certificate will be awarded by the partner university.
One of the most significant advantages of studying at college is that course fees for degrees are considerably cheaper than universities, often several thousand pounds cheaper per year! Also, by studying at your local college you may well be able to stay living at home, which significantly reduces living costs.
