Working for Swindon College means you can make a real difference to the lives of our students, no matter what role you join us in. As well as this, our commitment to training and development, access to on-site facilities and other great benefits really do make Swindon College a brilliant place to work.
The College has two final salary pension schemes available to all employees dependent upon what type of contract you have – The Teachers’ Pension Scheme for Academic staff and the Local Government Pension Scheme for Business Support staff. The schemes include the following key benefits:
We are committed to developing your skills, knowledge and experience and offer access to a wide range of development and training options throughout the College.
We run several Staff Development days each academic year which are an excellent opportunity for both personal and team development.
Business Support staff enjoy 25 days annual leave (pro rata for part time staff) rising to 30 days after 5 years complete service. Academic staff receive 39 days annual leave per academic year, and management staff 35 days.
In recent years there has also been discretionary non contractual extra leave allowed at Christmas when the College normally closes for a two week period and all staff take a break – excellent for families!
Little Stars Nursery
The on-site nursery provides high quality, affordable childcare for staff, students and the local community. Little Stars was recently awarded an outstanding Grade 1 for all aspects of their provision in their 2009 Ofsted inspection.
These vouchers are a family friendly initiative and a more flexible way to meet childcare costs. Visit www.computersharevoucherservices.com for more information.
We offer pay and display car parks for the use of staff and students which are monitored by CCTV security cameras. Annual permits are available to staff at an extremely competitive price.
We pride ourselves in operating a diverse, affordable and exciting daily menu in our Refectory with plenty of healthy options. The College also has the ‘Bar Barista Coffee Shop’ and ‘The Restaurant’ which offers fun themed nights on a regular basis. These are both training environments for supervised students working towards a career in the industry.
Learning Resource Centre
The LRC is an impressive facility offering more than 32,000 books as well as DVDs and electronic resources to support learning in the classroom. This facility is available to all staff and students.
Hair & Beauty Clinics
These offer a full range of great value hair and beauty treatments, provided by supervised students training for a career within the industry.
We are committed to the health, welfare and wellbeing of our employees and as part of this we offer a confidential counselling service.
