About the Sector
Nationally, there are an estimated 45,000 salons in the UK, 7,000 of which are beauty salons. Employment levels remain steady and training and qualifications are important to the success of the industry. Therefore suitably-qualified staff are increasingly sought by employers.

The hairdressing and beauty industries are both highly dependent on regular, repeat business from satisfied clients meaning communication and customer service skills are very important.
