Swindon College offers Apprenticeships across many different careers and industries, catering for a wide range of employers and young people.

Meet Melissa - Business and Administration Apprentice
Melissa Hyde, has completed her Business and Administration Apprenticeship with the Schools Liaison and Student Services department within Swindon College. Melissa, who is now aged 21 is now training as a dental nurse for a practice in Swindon.

Melissa said:
“I’m really going to miss working at Swindon College. I was very lucky that the college picked me as I’ve learnt the skills needed to progress into a new career without having to go away to university. I’m going to be trained on the job as a dental nurse and I intend to complete my NVQ Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business and Administration.
 
“What I learnt at Swindon College was invaluable; how to interact with customers face-to-face, over the phone, how to work efficiently, do filing and the College also provided training to help me improve my computer skills. I have gained so much confidence and the staff at the College were very supportive and helped me in my role.
 
“I would definitely recommend doing an Apprenticeship to anyone, as you are getting paid while you are gaining a recognised qualification. An Apprenticeship provides you with the chance to get to know what it is like to work in full time employment and I think that future employers would know you have relevant work experience."
