The UK’s creative industries – from advertising agencies to video games developers – are a significant source of innovation for the UK economy and will be one of the major growth areas in the recovering economy over the next five years (Source: Nesta 2009).
The South West is becoming an important centre for creative work and developments in digital communication mean more businesses are being established without geographic limitations. While the rewards can be high, these are often very competitive fields.
There are a wide variety of creative occupations ranging from commercial work in textiles, fashion, illustration, photography, advertising, theatre, product and industrial design, computer games development, graphic design, web design, television and film through to teaching and freelance practice.
